New Blog
This is a link to my new blog: Paloma Rodríguez
There I will write about my journey to the USA from May-September 2007
La Malinche
"La Malinche." Slave, interpreter, secretary, mistress, mother of the first "Mexican." Her very name still stirs up controversy (Lenchek 1997: 1).
Since reading this I wondered about the visual representations of this controversial figure in Mexican history. Visually there must be many ways to portray Hernán Córtes' interpreter/mistress?
I will be doing some research on this subject for a course on Visual Anthropology. My main subject will be: visual expressions of malinchismo in present day Mexico. I would also like to investigate if, and if so, in what way malinchismo is visible in the chicano population of the United States.

At the moment I’m participating in a project that gives students of the social studies faculty the opportunity to make a documentary.
My group is called God on its way back and we are filming a young Dutch evangelist. This saturday we will be filming at a house party in Utrecht where our protagonist will be bringing God’s word to the people that are partying.
Later I’ll add a link to our own website. For now, here’s the link to the organizations site:
